The Macallan Unveils New Look For Core Collections
The Macallan has partnered with graphic designer David Carson to re-imagine the packaging for three of its Timeless Collections: Double Cask, Sherry Oak, and the Colour Collection.
Key design elements include a new bottle design inspired by the distinctive shape of The Macallan Distillery and its sweeping green roof, a triangular shoulder label that links the new collections with previous iterations and represents Spain’s Sherry Triangle, informative rear labels that incorporate a new cask type symbol highlighting the contribution of flavor and aroma imparted from both American and European oak casks, and enhanced anti-counterfeit technology that provides greater traceability.
The Macallan Double Cask Collection:
Crafted with an exquisite balance of European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry wine in our bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera, the Double Cask Collection is an homage to The Macallan’s exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks and the extraordinary story of their creation: a journey that takes more than a hundred years and spans thousands of miles, from the forests of two continents to our vineyards in southern Spain. This smooth and creamy single malt features fresh fruits, toffee, and a balance of sweetness from the American oak, along with soft spices and dried fruits from the European oak. As it ages, the complexity deepens, revealing baked fruits and soft spices.
The Macallan Sherry Oak Collection:
Matured in our Sherry-seasoned European oak casks, the spirit develops into a rich and complex single malt. Bathed in natural mahogany hues, each expression layers dried fruit and ginger with deep wood spice that intensifies with age, capturing the depth and intricacy of The Macallan’s heritage.
The Macallan Colour Collection:
Defined by American oak casks seasoned with sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, this collection showcases a natural spectrum of golden hues. The whisky offers a fresh and vibrant character, with notes of citrus and vanilla, evolving into pronounced tropical fruit flavors in the older expressions.
While the packaging has changed, The Macallan claims that the whisky within the bottles remains the same.
The Macallan’s reimagined Timeless Collections will be available in the US beginning June 2025.
