Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. has announced the launch of Orphan Barrel Castle’s Curse, a 14 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Teaninich Distillery.

Castle’s Curse is named after the legend of the Scottish Kelpie, a supernatural, shape-shifting aquatic spirit or “water-horse” that is said to haunt the local waters in the Northern Highlands of Scotland where the Teaninich Distillery once overlooked. The Kelpie creature depicted on the bottle label symbolizes water’s crucial role in the creation of whisky and Scotland’s rich history of cultivating the land for barley, and is a tribute to traditional Scottish culture and the distillery’s heritage.

Matured in European oak and bottled at 47.4% ABV (94.8 proof), Orphan Barrel Castle’s Curse is described as having aromas of “tangerine, poached pear, sweet confectionery, and dried herbs,” and notes of “vanilla, red apple, and mint” on the palate.

Orphan Barrel Castle’s Curse 14 Year Old is available in limited quantities at a suggested retail price of $175.00 for a 750 mL bottle.
