Laphroaig 16 Year Old Revealed

Labels submitted to the TTB have revealed Laphroaig 16 Year Old, a new release matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 48% ABV (96 Proof). Per the back label, the first-fill ex-bourbon barrels are described as yielding “a bright gold colour, more intense vanilla flavour and subtle spice notes during the maturation process that perfectly complement Laphroaig’s signature smoky flavour.”
The labels make no mention of Laphroaig 16 Year Old being a limited or special edition, so it’s possible it could be a permanent addition to Laphroaig’s core range of single malt whiskies. Expect an official announcement with suggested pricing, release date, and more information prior to launch.
