The GlenAllachie Debuts Meikle Tòir Single Cask Collection
The GlenAllachie Distillery has unveiled the first-ever single cask additions to its Meikle Tòir range of peated single malts – a distillery exclusive 2018 Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead and an online exclusive 2019 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead.
These single casks were hand-selected by Master Distiller Billy Walker are presented at cask strength, non-chill filtered, and with natural cask-imparted color.
The 2018 Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead distillery exclusive was matured in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask for seven years. It has a peat level of 44 PPM and is bottled at 59.9% ABV, yielding 355 bottles. It’s described as having aromas of “fig jam, brandied orchard fruits, heather honey, butterscotch, campfire smoke, and toasted hazelnuts.” The palate exhibits notes of “orange zest, grilled honeycomb, mocha, crystallised ginger, almond marzipan, cinnamon buttercream, and sweet cigar smoke.”
The 2019 Oloroso Sherry Hogshead is available exclusively from The GlenAllachie Distillery’s online shop and was aged for six years in an Oloroso Sherry cask. It has a peat level of 47 PPM and is bottled at 60.5% ABV, yielding 357 bottles. It’s described as having aromas of “heather honey, soft tobacco, baked orange zest, mocha, dried figs, and muscovado sugar.” The palate exhibits notes of “ginger snaps, grilled honeycomb, mocha, cinnamon butter, smoked orchard fruits, maraschino cherries, and fig tart.”
