The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of a new cask-finished bottling which is to become a permanent fixture of its core range: Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish.

Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish was produced using the distillery’s unpeated double distilled spirit and initially matured for three years and 10 months in first fill ex-bourbon casks, followed by a secondary maturation of two years and 10 months in ruby port hogsheads. This inaugural six year old expression marks the first of a series of progressively aged, batched releases which will get older as the distillery’s stocks mature.

Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish is described as having aromas of “fresh strawberries, vanilla, and raspberries dipped in milk chocolate, with hints of fresh eucalyptus and pine.” The palate exhibits notes of “summer fruits and rich dark cherries, rich fresh cream, marzipan, sweet almonds, and strawberries.” The finish is “long and satisfying with notes of sweet fruity pink peppercorn spice and oak tannins.”

Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish is available via The Glasgow Distillery website and at retailers across the UK for a recommended retail price of £59. It will also be launching later this year in Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland, with additional markets to be announced.
