Compass Box Announces Flaming Heart Seventh Edition

Compass Box Flaming Heart Seventh Edition

Compass Box has announced Flaming Heart Seventh Edition, a limited edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky “inspired by a rock song and born of oak, smoke, and fire.”

The Compass Box Flaming Heart series takes its name from a song by M. Ward, an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Portland, OR. First released in 2006, each edition of Flaming Heart is composed of a unique recipe reflecting the whiskies available to the Compass Box team at the time, but the intention has always been to balance big smoky malts with French oak’s spicy richness.

The recipe for Compass Box Flaming Heart Seven Edition follows:

  • Laphroaig single malt matured in Recharred Hogsheads (20.1%)
  • Talisker single malt matured in Recharred Hogsheads (7.7%)
  • Caol Ila single malt matured in Refill Bourbon Barrels (8.1%)
  • Highland Park single malt matured in Recharred Hogsheads (4.1%)
  • Glen Elgin single malt matured primarily in Recharred American Oak Barrels (17.1%)
  • Balmenach single malt matured in a First Fill Bourbon Barrel (12.8%)
  • Compass Box Nectar 15th Anniversary Remnant (3.1%)
  • Compass Box Peat Monster Arcana Remnant (2.3%)
  • Compass Box Flaming Heart 2018 Remnant (1.3%)
  • Highland Malt Blend matured in a Custom French Oak Barrel – Heavy Toast (23.4%)

Bottled non chill-filtered and of natural color at 48.9% ABV, Compass Box Flaming Heart Seventh Edition is described as having aromas of “smouldering peat embers, cigar wrapper, and candied ginger” and an “oily, smoky, rich, and savory” palate.

Limited to 9,606 bottles worldwide, Compass Box Flaming Heart Seventh Edition will arrive in stores in November and carries a suggested retail price of $155.
