GlenAllachie Launches Batch 3 of Wood Finish Range
The GlenAllachie Distillery has launched Batch 3 of its Wood Finish range, featuring three limited release single malt Scotch whiskies finished in Pedro Ximénez, Ruby Port, and Madeira casks.
The GlenAllachie 11 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Wood Finish was initially matured in American oak barrels for over nine years and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheons. It’s described as having aromas of “dark chocolate, plantains, sultanas, pineapple, and nutmeg”, with notes of “dark chocolate, treacle, heather honey, sultanas, pineapple, orange peel, and cinnamon” on the palate.
The GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Ruby Port Wood Finish was initially matured in American oak for 10 years and finished in Ruby Port pipe casks. It’s described as having aromas of “heather honey, grape must, treacle, bananas, and ginger”, with notes of “heather honey, toffee, damsons, grape must, orange peel, and ginger” on the palate.
The GlenAllachie 13 Year Old Madeira Wood Finish was initially matured in American oak for over 11 years and finished in Madeira Barriques which previously held wine made from Malvasia grapes. It’s described as having aromas of “vanilla, apricots, plantains, almonds, peaches, and pineapple”, with notes of “vanilla, treacle, apricots, peaches, almonds, grapefruit, and pineapple” on the palate.
All three expressions in Batch 3 of The GlenAllachie Wood Finish range are bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 48% ABV and are available now at suggested retail prices of £59.99 (~$80) for the Pedro Ximénez Sherry Wood Finish, £62.99 (~$85) for the Ruby Port Wood Finish, and £67.99 (~$91) for the Madeira Wood Finish.
