GlenAllachie Launches Virgin Oak Series

The GlenAllachie has announced the launch of the Virgin Oak Series, a limited edition range featuring three 12 year old single malts that have been matured in American Oak Ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in Virgin Oak casks sourced from France, Spain and the USA.
The GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Chinquapin Virgin Oak has been finished in casks made of Chinquapin Oak from the Northern Ozark region in Missouri and is described as having aromas of “heather honey, butterscotch, orange zest, nutmeg, and liquorice,” with notes of “heather honey, barley sugar, toasted biscuit, orange zest, cinnamon, rosehips, and liquorice” on the palate.
The GlenAllachie 12 Year Old French Virgin Oak has been finished in hogsheads made of French Oak from the Haute-Garonne region of France and is described as having aromas of “honey, toffee, mocha, orange zest, and nutmeg,” with notes of “heather honey, toffee, butterscotch, mocha, cinnamon, grapefruit, and a hint of earthy tannins” on the palate.
The GlenAllachie 12 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak has been finished in hogsheads made of Spanish Oak from the Cantabrian Mountains in Northern Spain and is described as having aromas of “honey, coconut, treacle, orange zest, and cinnamon,” with notes of “heather honey, treacle, coconut, orange zest, mocha, nutmeg, and cinnamon” on the palate.
Limited to approximately 6,600 bottles each, all three expressions in The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series are bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 48% ABV and carry a suggested retail price of £59.99 (~$77).
