Abraham Bowman Releases Twice Finished Whiskey

Abraham Bowman Twice Finished Whiskey

A. Smith Bowman Distillery has announced the release of Abraham Bowman Twice Finished Whiskey, the 19th and latest expression in the Abraham Bowman line of experimental whiskies named after the commander of the 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolutionary War.

Aged for a total of 13 years, Abraham Bowman Twice Finished Whiskey was initially matured in seven charred oak barrels for eight years and three months. These barrels were then consolidated into two-and-a-half barrels to be finished in wine casks: first, Potomac Point Winery Port barrels for four years and seven months, then Sauternes barrels for two months before being bottled at 100 proof.

Tasting notes describe Abraham Bowman Twice Finished Whiskey as having “upfront notes of sweet honey, and caramel with dried fruits from the port barrel lingering in the background. Heavy toasted oak flavors with a creamy mouthfeel and sweetness from the finishes coming through. The flavor finishes dry with coffee, dried figs, and hints of leather lingering on the palate.”

Abraham Bowman Twice Finished Whiskey is available in limited quantities exclusively at the A. Smith Bowman Distillery gift shop in Virginia for $69.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
