Benromach 20th Anniversary 1998 Vintage Released

Benromach 20th Anniversary 1998 Vintage

Benromach has released a new, limited edition bottling in celebration of their 20th anniversary since resuming distilling. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2018, Benromach 20th Anniversary has been matured entirely in first fill oak casks yielding 3,000 bottles at a cask strength of 56.2% ABV.

Benromach was founded in 1898 and operated under a number of owners until 1983, when the distillery was officially closed. Independent bottler Gordon and MacPhail later purchased the distillery in 1993, and after renovations, resumed distilling in 1998. Benromach 20th Anniversary is the oldest release from Benromach since distilling resumed in 1998 and was created to celebrate 20 years of distilling since re-opening.

On the nose, Benromach’s tasting notes describe “rich notes of fruit cake, mingling with sweet demerara sugar and vanilla. Underlying hints of zingy citrus and dark chocolate develop with a touch of warm spice.” On the palate, “sweetness of stewed raisin and apple is wonderfully complemented by dark chocolate. Notes of orange zest, toffee, ginger and liquorice follow, leading to a hint of smooth creaminess and lingering charred oak on the finish.”

Benromach 20th Anniversary is available now in the UK at an RRP (Recommended Retail Price) of £299. We’ve reached out to Benromach about US availability and pricing.
