Lagavulin 8 Year Old Joins the Core Line-Up

Diageo has announced that Lagavulin 8 Year Old, originally released as a limited edition to celebrate the distillery’s 200th anniversary, will be joining the Lagavulin family permanently.

Diageo has announced plans to reopen two iconic Scotch whisky distilleries – Port Ellen and Brora. The distilleries, which were closed in 1983, will be brought back into production through a £35 million ($50 million) investment.
Ardbeg has officially unveiled the first new whisky to be added to their core range in almost a decade: Ardbeg An Oa (pronounced “An Oh”). Ardbeg An Oa is a vatting of Ardbeg single malts that have spent time in Pedro Ximénez, virgin oak, ex-bourbon, and other unspecified casks.

Ardbeg Day 2017 and the release of Kelpie may have just passed, but that doesn’t mean Ardbeg isn’t already planning next years celebration and special release. It appears as though Lagavulin 8 Year Old, originally released as a limited edition to celebrate the distillery’s 200th anniversary, will be joining the core line-up. A new label for Lagavulin 8 Year Old was submitted to the TTB for approval earlier this month, and it’s missing the words “Limited Edition”, which were featured on the original label.
