Ardbeg Day Gets Groovy in 2018
Ardbeg Day 2017 and the release of Kelpie may have just passed, but that doesn’t mean Ardbeg isn’t already planning next years celebration and special release. For Ardbeg Day 2018, dig out your bell-bottoms and platform shoes, and bust a move for Ardbeg Grooves, revealed through a recent TTB listing.
The back label gives us a hint as to what we can expect from Ardbeg Grooves:
“A whisky that has been laid down in wine casks, intensely charred to produce heavy grooves on the surface of the wood. The result is a whisky aromatic with smoked spices and distant bonfires, sweet vibes of vanilla popcorn and smoky soot fading into a mellow haze of apples, fresh flowers and smoked pear”.
Unfortunately, the label doesn’t indicate what type of wine casks are being used.
Ardbeg Grooves Committee Edition will be bottled at 51.6% ABV. The label for the general release has yet to be revealed, but if past Ardbeg Day releases are any indication, it’ll likely come in at a lower ABV than the Committee Edition. Ardbeg Grooves is expected to hit store shelves in late Spring/early Summer 2018.
