Sullivans Cove Launches 17 Year Old French Oak ex-Tawny Single Cask Whisky

Sullivans Cove has announced the release of Sullivans Cove 17 Year Old French Oak ex-Tawny Single Cask TD0297, its first age stated whisky to be bottled at cask strength.
This release was filled in July 2008 and matured in a 300L French oak cask that was previously used to age Australian tawny port-style fortified wine. It was decanted in October of 2025 after aging for 17 years and 3 months, and bottled at a cask strength of 61.3% ABV, yielding only 343 bottles.
Official tasting notes for Sullivans Cove 17 Year Old French Oak ex-Tawny Single Cask follow:
Nose: Grapefruit skin, old Barossa Tawny depth, glace pineapple, candied apple, walnuts, and Sullivans Cove’s signature waxy, snuffed-candle character. A splash of water brings orange, sourdough, and delicate floral lift.
Palate: Full-bodied and oily, with kumquat, green apple, lychee, and gentle mint. Water reveals nougat, cantaloupe, more grapefruit, cola, and a subtle hint of curry leaf.
Finish: Choc-orange, jasmine, borage, shortbread, gingerbread, musky rose petals, and Pu’erh tea. Dilution reveals an intriguing aloe vera note.
