Bruichladdich Launches Port Charlotte 18 Year Old 2026 Edition
Bruichladdich has announced the launch of Port Charlotte 18 Year Old 2026 Edition.
Distilled from 100% Scottish mainland barley peated to 40 PPM (parts per million), Port Charlotte 18 Year Old was matured entirely on Islay in a combination of first fill bourbon (40%), second fill sherry (15%), and ex-Virgin Oak casks (15%). A portion of the sherry matured spirit was recasked into first fill red wine casks from the Rhone valley for five years, before finishing in second fill bourbon for two years (20%). The final component matured in refill sherry and wine casks (10%), with all components married together for bottling.

Nose – Tropical fruits are immediate on the nose, followed by gentle waves of wood smoke and warming spices which intertwine with honeycomb and soft apricot. With a little time to open, fragrant honeysuckle, fresh linen, and walnut marry with the oak and enhance the delicate, floral character of the spirit.
Palate – Incredibly smooth and rounded, aromatic wood spice, bonfire smoke, and caramelised brown sugar coat the palate. An undercurrent of rich cinder toffee sweetness, layered with a medley of tropical fruits, gives way to earthy hints of supple aged leather, charred oak, and roasted almond, unveiling Port Charlotte’s signature peat smoke. Delicately balanced, the spirit of the oak reveals hidden complexities, culminating in a light, salty freshness that reflects the whisky’s all-Islay maturation.
Finish – A hint of sweet citrus and vanilla custard settle on the finish, before Port Charlotte’s unmistakable smouldering peat smoke and a drift of sea breeze linger.
Bottled NCF (non chill-filtered) and coloring free at 52.3% ABV, Port Charlotte 18 Year Old 2026 Edition is limited to 8,000 bottles and carries a suggested retail price of £175.00.
