Pursuit Spirits Unveils Old Anvil: Third Expression in the Mellwood Legacy Collection

Pursuit Spirits has announced the release of Old Anvil, the third expression in the Mellwood Legacy Collection.
Inspired by a long-lost label once bottled by General Distillers in Louisville, Old Anvil is a one-time, distillery-exclusive release created from four barrels of bourbon sourced from a renowned Kentucky distillery in 2019. At the time of acquisition, the bourbon in the barrels was just five years old. Pursuit Spirits founders Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil decided to further mature these barrels for an additional six years. At 11 years old, the barrels were blended and bottled at a cask strength of 59.7% ABV (119.4 proof).
Official tasting notes for Old Anvil follow:
Old Anvil offers a bold yet balanced sip. On the nose, it opens with the nostalgic creaminess of a root beer float, lifted by honeysuckle and bright orange marmalade. The palate brings a fusion of orange-vanilla cola and Madagascar vanilla bean, rounded out with the subtle warmth of fig biscuit. The finish is long and satisfying, layering cinnamon-vanilla frosting and candied orange with waves of sweet oak and a lingering touch of allspice.
Available exclusively at Pursuit Spirits’ Whiskey Row location starting Thursday, August 28, Old Anvil comes in 375 mL bottles with a suggested retail price of $99.99. Only a limited number of cases will be sold each day, but booking the Mellwood Past & Present experience guarantees the opportunity to purchase a bottle while supplies last.
