Highland Park has announced the launch of its oldest and rarest release to date, Highland Park 56.

In 2008, Highland Park’s Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, selected ten casks originally laid down in 1968 and married and re-racked them in first-fill, sherry-seasoned oak casks. Highland Park 56 comes from one of those casks, a sherry-seasoned American Oak puncheon that has been bottled at 47.1% ABV with no chill filtration and no added color, yielding just 170 bottles globally.

Highland Park 56 is described as having aromas of “jasmine, lilac, sweet raisins, cloudy honey, and delicate peat smoke.” The palate exhibits flavors of “Seville orange peel, coriander seeds, and lapsang souchong tea.” It finishes with “subtle woody spices, honeyed oak, and fragrant heathery peat smoke.”

Highland Park 56 carries a suggested retail price of $53,500.00 for a 70 cL bottle. It will be available globally beginning this month and in the U.S. beginning Spring 2025.
