BHAKTA Spirits Launches BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon

BHAKTA Spirits has announced the launch of its third Bourbon vintage — BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon.
Distilled in Tennessee from an 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley mash bill, BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon was matured across two continents, three distinct casks, and four unique climates — the Smoky Mountains, the Green Mountains, the sweeping plains of Indiana, and the chilly climate of Glasgow, Scotland.
BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon completed its final aging within the BHAKTA-GRISWOLD Spirits Library of the brand’s college campus headquarters, where it was finished in a barrel that previously held BHAKTA 1975 Armagnac. BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon was bottled at 19 years, 3 months old and is presented at 107.4 proof (53.7% ABV).
BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon is described as having aromas of “toasted almond, Moroccan chamomile, and antebellum molasses.” The palate exhibits notes of “Seville orange, baking spices, stewed pears, and layered oak spice.” The finish is “long, semi-dry, and evolving, showing charred oak, blood orange, well-aged leather, and heirloom tobacco.”
The BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon bottle features a gilded hood ornament topper of BHAKTA Spirits Founder Raj Peter Bhakta riding an elephant. The bottle itself is presented in a glass-windowed wooden box handcrafted by Andrew Bosela of Wild Roots Woodworking, in partnership with the College of St. Joseph the Worker’s woodshop of Steubenville, Ohio. These bespoke bottle boxes were inspired by Gothic and Art Deco architecture and have been crafted from Osage, walnut, and padauk.
Limited to 555 bottles, BHAKTA 2005 Bourbon has a suggested retail price of $1,000 and will be available at select retailers, through the BHAKTA Spirits Private Client Program, and online at bhaktaspirits.com.
