The 2024 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) has been announced and will feature new releases of Eagle Rare 17 Year Old, George T. Stagg, Sazerac 18 Year Old, Thomas H. Handy, and William Larue Weller.

Details on the 2024 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection follow:

Eagle Rare 17 Year Old

The 2024 release of Eagle Rare 17 Year Old was distilled in the spring of 2007 and bottled at 17 years and 4 months old. Presented at 101 proof (50.5% ABV), it’s described as having aromas of “oak and caramel intertwined with subtle undertones of vanilla and pepper spice with a caramel sweetness.” The palate exhibits “the spiciness of rye, toasted oak, and tobacco.” It concludes with “a combination of caramel, pepper, leather, and oak, paired with roasted tobacco and dried fruit.”

George T. Stagg

The 2024 release of George T. Stagg is comprised of barrels aged more than 15 years and 2 months and is bottled at a barrel strength of 136.1 proof (68.05% ABV). It’s described as having aromas of “deep aged wood, rich oak, and dark cherry.” The palate exhibits “a layered profile of spice, oak, caramel, and a soft touch of cinnamon.” It concludes with “a long and drying finish that leaves a lasting impression of complexity and warmth.”

Sazerac 18 Year Old

The 2024 release of Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old is bottled at 18 years and 5 months old and presented at 90 proof (45% ABV). It’s described as having aromas of “oak and leather with subtle hints of ripe plum, rye grain, and earthy undertones.” The palate exhibits notes of “rye spice, smoke, dark cherry, and a touch of licorice.” It concludes with a finish that “lingers gracefully, imparting subtle hints of tobacco and charred oak.”

Thomas H. Handy

The barrels for the 2024 release of Thomas H. Handy were filled at an entry proof of 125 and aged for over 6 years. Bottled uncut and unfiltered at 127.2 proof (63.6% ABV), this straight rye whiskey is described as having aromas of “freshly cracked black pepper and cinnamon.” The palate exhibits notes of “prominent spice and oak flavors.” It concludes with “a long-lasting finish of cinnamon, pepper, and clove.”

William Larue Weller

The barrels for the 2024 release of William Larue Weller were filled at an entry proof of 114 and aged for over 12 years on the lower floor of a rickhouse at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Bottled uncut and unfiltered at 125.8 proof (62.9% ABV), this wheated recipe bourbon is described as having aromas of “a blend of new leather, light pipe tobacco, and caramel, enveloped by the warm sweetness of marshmallow and hints of ripe fruit.” The palate exhibits “rich caramel and toffee notes.” It concludes with “a long finish and oak, caramel, and fruit notes.”

The 2024 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection will be available in limited quantities starting this month at a suggested retail price of $149.99 each.
