Independent bottler and blender Duncan Taylor has announced the inaugural edition of “The Accolade” portfolio with the release of a 1970 vintage Highland Park 54 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

This limited release of 158 bottles comes from cask number 3254 – a sherry-seasoned oak cask – and is the oldest Highland Park whisky bottled by an independent bottler to date.

Official tasting notes for Duncan Taylor The Accolade Highland Park 1970 follow:

Nose: This exceptional dram boasts a rich and multi-faceted nose with layers of leather, caramel, marzipan and a symphony of alluring red fruits, melon, and soft, lingering smoke.

Palate: On the palate, the experience deepens as the whisky seamlessly blends cherries and apricots with the gentle embrace of peat and the warmth of nutmeg, which then releases layers of sweet woody notes, wet stones and mineral sea air.

Finish: The whisky culminates in a creamy, luxurious finish that lingers with delicate spice, evoking the decadence of crème brûlée, and the comforting sweetness of red apple tart tatin.

Duncan Taylor The Accolade Highland Park 1970 was bottled at 85.8 proof (42.9% ABV) and is presented in a handcrafted dagger decanter housed in an elegant cabinet, with a certificate of authenticity and handling kit containing gloves nestled on both sides of the cabinet.

Duncan Taylor The Accolade Highland Park 1970 is available now exclusively through The Spirits Embassy at a price of £22,000 for a 700 mL bottle.
