Elijah Craig Launches Toasted Rye Whiskey
Elijah Craig has announced the launch of Elijah Craig Toasted Rye, a Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey finished in toasted new oak barrels.
To create Elijah Craig Toasted Rye, fully matured Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey – distilled from a mash bill of 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley – is dumped and then re-entered at barrel proof into a second, custom toasted new oak barrel designed in partnership with Independent Stave Company.
Elijah Craig Toasted Rye is bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV) and described as having aromas of “toasted oak, crème brûlée, almond and hazelnut.” The palate has a “creamy mouthfeel” and exhibits notes of “milk chocolate and subtle baking spices.” The finish is “soft and warm with lingering, drawn-out spices.”
Elijah Craig Toasted Rye launches nationally this month and will be available on an allocated basis at a suggested retail price of $54.99.
