Glenglassaugh Distillery has released The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection, a collection of single cask bottlings dating back to the 1970s.

Taking its name from the serpentine marble found in the cliffs surrounding Glenglassaugh Distillery, The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection launches with three expressions. Each single cask was chosen by Master Blender Rachel Barrie and is individually numbered and aged over 48 years.

Glenglassaugh Cask Number 1863 was distilled on May 28th, 1974 and matured in an Aleatico Red Wine Barrique. Bottled at 46.1% ABV, this 48 year old single malt is described as having aromas of “soft blueberry, peach and tamarind on a base of meringue and gently salted pistachio cream.” The palate exhibits “a delicious melange of mouthwatering blackberry, lychee and raspberry infused with passionfruit and sea salt.” UK RRP £7,500.

Glenglassaugh Cask Number 5640 was distilled on November 9th, 1973 and matured in a Bourbon Barrel. Bottled at 42.1% ABV, this 49 year old single malt is described as having aromas of an “exotic fruit elixir with guava, white peach and coconut cream carried on a sultry gorse-infused ocean breeze,” and “silken waves of tropical sun-drenched fruit envelope the palate in a papaya, passion fruit and guava caress.” UK RRP £8,300.

Glenglassaugh Cask Number 1723 was distilled on October 25th, 1972 and matured in an Oloroso Puncheon. Bottled at an estimated 44.2% ABV (to be confirmed), this 51 year old single malt is described as having aromas of “sun-dried raisin, blood orange preserve and maraschino cherry, with sandalwood, spiced vetiver and sea salt.” The palate exhibits “enveloping waves of raisin balsamic, blackberry jus and salted treacle infused with orange and sloe syrup.” UK RRP £10,600.

The first three releases in The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection are available now in Singapore and will be available globally this spring. Over the course of the year, a limited selection of additional casks will be released into the collection.
