Old Forester Launches The 117 Series Bottled in Bond

Old Forester has announced The 117 Series: Bottled in Bond, the latest expression in a limited edition line of whiskies created to explore and showcase the effects of experimenting with mash and yeast strains, barrel manipulation, maturation environments, and more.
Bottled-in-bond is a designation that protects the integrity of aged spirits by ensuring each barrel is produced in a single distillation season by a single distillery. To meet the criteria, the spirit must also be matured in a U.S. bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof). Old Forester The 117 Series: Bottled in Bond is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky bottled from barrels filled during a single distillation season – the wet and warm late Spring of 2014.
Old Forester The 117 Series: Bottled in Bond is described as having aromas of “stewed blackberries, caramelized apricot and sweet dates rounded out by a sweet nuttiness and topped with whipped cream.” The palate has notes of “caramelized fruits with a subtle hint of spearmint.” It concludes with “dried fruits giving way to heavy cream with an herbal tea finish.”
Old Forester The 117 Series: Bottled in Bond is now available in limited quantities via the Old Forester Distilling Co. retail shop, select Kentucky retailers, and the Old Forester online shop in select states. The 117 Series: Bottled in Bond carries a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 375 mL bottle.
