GlenAllachie Launches Virgin Oak Series Batch 3
GlenAllachie has announced the addition of three new expressions to their Virgin Oak Series, a limited edition range which explores the influence of aging whisky in a variety of different oak species from around the world. The new expressions consist of an 8 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak Finish, 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak Finish, and 10 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak Finish.
The GlenAllachie 8 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in virgin casks made of Sessile Oak (Quercus Petrae) sourced from the Atlantic coast of Scotland. It’s described as having aromas of “baked oats, butterscotch, toffee, cinnamon, gingersnaps, and heather honey,” with notes of “white chocolate, cinnamon, and ginger” on the palate, concluding with “toffee and butterscotch” on the finish. RRP: £65.99.
The GlenAllachie 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in virgin casks made of Hungarian Oak (Quercus Petraea) from the Zemplén forest in the mountains of northeast Hungary. It’s described as having aromas of “butterscotch, citrus, milk chocolate, cinnamon, raisins, orchard fruits, and ginger,” with notes of “heather honey and cinnamon” on the palate, concluding with “chocolate, lemon drops, and caramelised brown sugar” on the finish. RRP: £62.99.
The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in virgin casks made of Spanish Oak (Quercus Robur) from the Spanish Cantabrian mountains. It’s described as having aromas of “orchard fruits, baking spices, sticky toffee pudding, brown sugar, glazed cherries, and citrus,” with notes of “chocolate, coffee, heather honey, pepper, ginger, and molasses” on the palate, concluding with “banana and sultanas” on the finish. RRP: £69.99.
All three expressions in The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series are bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 48% ABV and are available now.
