Suntory Announces Expanded Release of Suntory World Whisky Ao
Suntory has announced the expanded availability of its first-ever world-blended whisky, Suntory World Whisky Ao. Previously available in Japan and Global Travel Retail only, Ao is now available in Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, and Korea.
Suntory World Whisky Ao is blended using whisky from Suntory Group’s own distilleries in five of the world’s most renowned whisky regions: Ardmore and Glen Garioch in Scotland, Cooley in Ireland, Alberta in Canada, Yamazaki and Hakushu in Japan, and Jim Beam in the US. ‘Ao’ (meaning ‘blue’ in Japanese) is named after the oceans that connect these five whisky regions of the world together.
Suntory World Whisky Ao is described as having a nose of “vanilla, pineapple-like fruitiness, a creamy sweetness, and a lingering woody aroma.” The palate is “smooth and sweet, with smokiness and cinnamon-like spiciness.” It conludes with a “sweet, smoky, spicy, and woody” finish.
Suntory World Whisky Ao is bottled at 43% ABV and presented in a five-sided 700 mL bottle in honor of the five major whisky-making regions. Suntory World Whisky Ao carries a suggested retail price of $104.95.
