Duncan Taylor Releases Rarest Collection Macallan 52 Year Old

Independent bottler and blender Duncan Taylor has announced the release of a Macallan 52 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky as part of its ‘Rarest Collection’ portfolio.
The liquid in the Rarest Collection Macallan 52 Year Old is the product of a single cask – number 8376 – that was barreled at The Macallan Distillery on September 10, 1969 and aged for decades in an American Oak ex-bourbon barrel, before being transferred to a first fill ex-Oloroso Sherry Cask in December 2016 for a secondary maturation. The cask was bottled by the Duncan Taylor team on July 27, 2022 at a natural cask strength of 82.92 proof (41.46% ABV), without chill filtration or artificial coloring. The cask yielded just 228 bottles, 14 of which have been allocated to the US.
The Macallan 52 Year Old is described as delivering “notes of rich dark chocolate with hints of cinnamon and spices, honeyed and creamy vanilla” and a finish that is “creamy, luscious, and sweet, with more tropical notes than traditional aged sherry casks more commonly used by the distillery.”
The Rarest Collection Macallan 52 Year Old is bottled in a handmade crystal decanter designed around the shape of a dirk, a historical Scottish dagger. The decanter is housed in a bespoke, European oak cabinet with herringbone detailing – handcrafted in Scotland by skilled cabinet makers to reflect the old-style weapons cabinets.
The Duncan Taylor Rarest Collection Macallan 52 Year Old carries a suggested retail price of £75,000 and will be available for purchase in the US via special order. For information on how to purchase, reach out to Shand Import LLC.
