Foundry Distilling Co. Announces Axe Man American Malt Whiskey
Foundry Distilling Co. has announced Axe Man American Malt Whiskey, the latest release created through Foundry Distilling’s Brewer-Distiller Alliance initiative. The initiate works with notable breweries across the nation to produce limited edition whiskeys from their beer recipes.
Axe Man American Malt Whiskey represents the second collaboration between Foundry Distilling and Surly Brewing. In July 2021, the Brewer Distiller Alliance launched Furious American Malt Whiskey, based on Surly Brewing’s Furious IPA beer. Axe Man American Malt Whiskey is distilled from the wort of Surly’s Axe Man IPA beer. Surly brought the beer’s wort to Foundry Distilling, where it was fermented, distilled, and aged for 28 months in new 30-gallon American Oak barrels to produce an American single malt whiskey.
Bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV), Axe Man American Malt Whiskey is described as having aromas of “vanilla, straw, and banana,” with notes of “clove, pear, and peppercorn” on the palate, concluding with “warm cinnamon and pie crust” on the finish.
Foundry Distilling is hosting an Axe Man American Malt Whiskey release party at their distillery in Historic Valley Junction, Iowa, on Saturday, September 17th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and attendees can sample Axe Man Whiskey, Axe Man IPA, meet with Foundry Distilling’s owner and production team, and even participate in axe throwing. Additionally, the first 100 attendees will receive a complimentary branded rocks glass.
Axe Man American Malt Whiskey is is limited to 1,000 cases and will be available at Foundry Distilling beginning on September 17th, 2022. Axe Man Whiskey may be pre-ordered online at foundrydistillingcompany.com.
