Fettercairn Launches 16 Year Old 3rd Release: 2022
The Fettercairn Distillery has announced the launch of Fettercairn 16 Year Old 3rd Release: 2022, a limited edition bottling in an annual series that “showcases different maturation journeys for the distinctive distillery character.”
The 2022 release of Fettercairn 16 Year Old was initially matured in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, before additional maturation in first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and a finish in ex-Bourbon barrels.
Bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 46.4% ABV, Fettercairn 16 Year Old 3rd Release is described as having aromas of “dried exotic fruits, lightly syruped figs, grapefruit, and mature oak,” with notes of “sunkissed raisins, ripe guava, patisserie spices, cocoa qualities, and natural vanilla” on the palate, concluding with “moist ginger cake, passion fruit, baked apple, and roasted coffee” on the finish.
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 3rd Release will be available across Europe beginning this month, before expanding to Global Travel Retail and select Asian markets in 2023. Fettercairn 16 Year Old carries a suggested retail price of £72 for a 70 cL bottle and £82.50 for the Global Travel Retail edition which is presented in a 1 L bottle.
