GlenAllachie Expands Virgin Oak Series
GlenAllachie has announced the addition of three new expressions to their Virgin Oak Series, a limited edition range which explores the influence of aging whisky in a variety of different oak species from around the world. The new expressions consist of a 15 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak Finish, 10 Year Old French Virgin Oak Finish, and 10 Year Old Chinquapin Virgin Oak Finish.
The GlenAllachie 15 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in casks made of Sessile Oak (Quercus Petrae) sourced from the Atlantic coast of Scotland. It’s described as having aromas of “honeycomb, vanilla pods, citrus fruits, butterscotch, orange zest, and white chocolate,” with notes of “heather honey, caramelized pine nuts, cinnamon, and toffee” on the palate, concluding with “orange peel, lemon zest, banana, and ginger” on the finish. The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old French Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in casks made of French Oak (Quercus Robur) from the Haute-Garonne region of France. It’s described as having aromas of “orange peel, heather honey, soft spice, caramel, orchard fruits, and mocha,” with notes of “heather honey, mocha, and brittle toffee” on the palate, concluding with “grapefruit, cinnamon, earthy tannins, and ginger” on the finish. The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Chinquapin Virgin Oak has been matured in American Oak ex-Bourbon Barrels and finished for approximately 18 months in casks made of wood from the Northern Ozark region of Missouri in the United States. It’s described as having aromas of “orange zest, heather honey, pecan, butterscotch, nutmeg, and liquorice,” with notes of “cinnamon, barley sugar, and toasted biscuits” on the palate, concluding with “rose hips, orange peel, and heather honey” on the finish. RRP: £61.99.
All three expressions in The GlenAllachie Virgin Oak Series are bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 48% ABV and are available now.
