Old Forester Launches The 117 Series 1910 Extra Old Bourbon

Old Forester has announced The 117 Series: 1910 Extra Old, the third expression in a limited edition line of whiskies created to explore and showcase the effects of experimenting with mash and yeast strains, barrel manipulation, maturation environments, and more.
Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky is a double barreled bourbon aged in a second, custom-made, heavily charred barrel for between six and nine months. The 117 Series: 1910 Extra Old is Old Forester’s standard 1910 Old Fine Whisky that has been left to age 18 months in a secondary barrel – hence the name “extra old.” This process extracted significantly more of the heavily charred barrel influence, resulting in a bourbon with “intense caramel notes.”
Old Forester The 117 Series: 1910 Extra Old is bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV) and described as having aromas of “dark brown sugar, sugared pecan, and rich chocolate.” The palate is “medium-bodied” and “transitions from sweet notes of intense caramel to the spice of dried tobacco.” It finishes with a “balanced ending that is gently rounded out with notes of green apple and raw walnut.”
The 117 Series: 1910 Extra Old is available now in limited quantities via the Old Forester Distilling Co. retail shop, select Kentucky retailers, and the Old Forester online shop in select states. The 117 Series: 1910 Extra Old carries a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 375 mL bottle.
