Abraham Bowman Releases 15 Year Old Rum Finished Bourbon

A. Smith Bowman Distillery has announced the release of Abraham Bowman Rum Finished Bourbon, the latest expression in the Abraham Bowman line of experimental whiskies named after the commander of the 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolutionary War.
Aged for a total of 15 years, Abraham Bowman Rum Finished Bourbon was initially matured in American White Oak for nine years, then finished in rum casks for an additional six years, before being bottled at 100 proof.
Tasting notes describe Abraham Bowman Rum Finished Bourbon as having aromas of “vanilla, caramel, candied nuts, leather, coconut, molasses, brown sugar, and candied fruit.” The palate is “viscous” and exhibits “sweet flavors of toffee and toasted sugar with vanilla,” with a “pleasant aftertaste that lingers on the palate.”
Abraham Bowman Rum Finished Bourbon will be available through the A. Smith Bowman Distillery gift shop on a first come, first served basis on Saturday, December 18 and through the Virginia ABC Board lottery at a suggested retail price of $69.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
