Old Forester Launches The 117 Series Warehouse K Bourbon
Old Forester has announced The 117 Series: Warehouse K, the second expression in a limited edition line of whiskies created to explore and showcase the effects of experimenting with mash and yeast strains, barrel manipulation, maturation environments, and more.
Directed by Old Forester Master Taster Jackie Zykan, The 117 Series: Warehouse K was created from a blend of barrels aged on different floors of Warehouse K, a warehouse described as producing exceptional liquid. Constructed in 1953, Warehouse K uses the time-honored tradition of heat-cycling and is reportedly one of Old Forester’s favorite places to select Single Barrel expressions.
Old Forester The 117 Series: Warehouse K is bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV) and described as having aromas of “creamy chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar, with a hint of golden raisin and pepper.” The palate is “full bodied” and “rich” with notes of “peripheral spice and a touch of black cherry alongside bitter molasses.” It finishes with a “robust yet balanced spice.”
The 117 Series releases are sold via the retail shop at Old Forester Distilling Co. and in limited quantities at select Kentucky retailers. The 117 Series: Warehouse K carries a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 375 mL bottle and will go on sale to the public on Thursday, August 12th.
