Old Forester Launches Rye Single Barrel
Old Forester has announced Rye Single Barrel, a barrel strength, unfiltered, straight rye whiskey that uses the same mash bill (65% Rye, 20% Malted Barley, 15% Corn) as the Old Forester 100 Proof Rye that was launched in 2019.
Tasting notes will vary from bottle to bottle due to the nature of single barrel products, but Old Forester Rye Single Barrel is described as having “dessert forward” aromas of “creamy vanilla and lemon custard alongside rich caramel and dark brown sugar”, a “full-bodied” palate “with a base of ripe orchard fruit, subtle cinnamon stick, dried dill and hazelnut”, and a “lengthy and spice driven” finish “with peripheral black pepper and underpinnings of green anisette.”
Old Forester Rye Single Barrel will be available in limited quantities at Old Forester Distillery and retailers nationwide beginning this month. It carries a suggested retail price of $79.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
