Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye Whisky Announced
The Old Forester Rye Whisky that first popped up in the TTB database nine months ago has officially been announced. The distillery’s first new grain recipe in nearly 150 years, Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye Whisky features a mash bill of 65% Rye, 20% Malted Barley, and 15% Corn.
Old Forester Rye is described as having aromas of “rich brown sugar, magnolia blossom, hints of soft sassafras and candied lemon”, with “spice, sharp black pepper, cinnamon stick, dried dill and baked apple” on the palate, ending with “allspice and peppercorn, a long and dry finish ignites with pine, anise and bright lemon zest”.
Old Forester Rye is bottled at 50% ABV (100 Proof) and launches nationwide in February at a suggested retail price of $22.99.
