Barton 1792 Distillery Unveils Thomas S. Moore Cask Finished Bourbon Whiskeys

Barton 1792 Distillery has unveiled the Thomas S. Moore brand, a new range of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys that have been finished in a variety of casks from around the world. The first three expressions will be a Cabernet Sauvignon Finish, a Port Finish, and a Chardonnay Finish, with additional cask finished releases to be unveiled every year in the fall.
The brand is named after Thomas S. Moore, who in 1889 built the distillery known today as Barton 1792 Distillery. The label on each bottle features imagery of a racehorse standing tall, honoring one of Moore’s earliest whiskey brands, Belle of Nelson, named for the thoroughbred who won the Kentucky Oaks in 1878.
The first three expressions in the Thomas S. Moore range were distilled from Barton 1792 Distillery’s high rye recipe bourbon and aged for “many years” in new charred oak barrels, before being transferred to their respective finishing casks for an additional one to three years.
Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Casks is bottled at 95.3 proof (47.65% ABV) and described as having “a bold taste, with notes of dark fruit, caramel, and vanilla.”
Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Casks is bottled at 98.9 proof (49.5% ABV) and described as having “a taste that is soft and sweet, with subtle hints of vanilla and baking spices.”
Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Chardonnay Casks is bottled at 97.9 proof (48.95% ABV) and described as having “a rich taste, with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and buttery oak.”
All three Thomas S. Moore expressions will be available in limited quantities beginning this month and carry a suggested retail price of $69.99.
