Little Book Chapter 3: "The Road Home"

Beam Suntory has announced the third expression in the annual, limited release Little Book series created by eighth generation Beam distiller Freddie Noe.

Little Book Chapter 3: “The Road Home” is a blend of four Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskies, one from each brand of the original Small Batch Bourbon Collection created by Freddie Noe’s grandfather Booker Noe in the early 1990s. The blend is comprised of a 9 year old Knob Creek Bourbon, a 9 year old Basil Hayden’s Bourbon, an 11 year old Booker’s Bourbon, and a 12 year old Baker’s Bourbon.

Bottled at 61.3% ABV (122.6 proof), Little Book Chapter 3: “The Road Home” is described as having tasting notes of “vanilla, caramel, and spices.”

Little Book Chapter 3: “The Road Home” will be available in limited quantities beginning this month and carries a suggested retail price of $124.99.

I just picked up a bottle yesterday, paid retail price for it. I usually shy away from blended spirits, preferring a straight Bourbon or a single malt Scotch. When I read the blend of juice in this and the age statement of each I have to admit that I was hooked. My palate is not sophisticated enough to pick out all the notes described. I blame my other addiction very spicy food for this. I was able to get the heat and the “hug”. I did get the oak and cinnamon from the nose. It spoke to me and said ” come on in it’s warm and comfortable in here”. And so I did, and I’m not the least disappointed. I’m nearing the end of my “Shiny Barrel Batch” and was looking for another Booker’s to take it’s place. Freddie ya done good!
