Ardbeg Announces Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old

Ardbeg has announced a new, permanent age-stated expression will be joining the Ten, An Oa, Uigeadail, and Corryvreckan. Ardbeg Traigh Bhan (pronounced ‘Tri-Van’) is a 19 year old single malt that’s been matured in American oak & Oloroso sherry casks and will be made available annually in small batches.

Traigh Bhan marks the first time in 20 years that Ardbeg will release a new, permanent expression with an age statement. Ardbeg Traigh Bhan will have subtle differences in flavour profile from year to year and each batch will feature a unique code on the carton, bottle, and foot label that can be entered at Ardbeg.com to receive more information on that batches history.

Dr. Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg Director of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky Stocks, said: “A new, permanent aged Ardbeg is a rare occurrence, and cause for celebration. We hope that, by slightly tweaking the batch recipe year-on-year, Ardbeggians can have some fun exploring the finer details of this ever-changing dram. As far as taste goes, this 19 Year Old whisky plunges the palate into notes of smoky pineapple and aromatic wood smoke, with a sweet mouthfeel of smoked chilli chocolate and paprika. The intense notes then peter out through a long, smoky finish.”

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old is bottled NCF (non-chill filtered) at 46.2% ABV and will be available beginning in September at a suggested retail price of $299.99.
