Highland Park The Light 17 Year Old Released
Highland Park has released their latest limited edition bottling, The Light 17 Year Old. Matured in refill American oak casks and bottled at 52.99% ABV, this release is limited to 28,000 bottles and is the second of two whiskies created to celebrate the contrasting island seasons on Orkney.
The Light is presented in a green glass bottle embossed with a runic dragon and sits in a brown wooden display. As Highland Park explains, “the serpent dragon design takes its inspiration from the great Norse sagas and embraces both the high sun of summer solstice and the low sun of winter solstice – the polar opposites of our island seasons – while the runic writing reflects the ancient carvings of our Viking ancestors, here on Orkney.”
Highland Park describes The Light as “light golden” in color, with “caramelized pear, nutmeg, vanilla, peat, cedar wood, oak, and light smoke” on the palate.
Highland Park The Light 17 Year Old is available worldwide at a suggested price of $260/£190. The first bottle in this series, The Dark, was released last Winter.
