Highland Park The Dark 17 Year Old Released

Highland Park The Dark 17 Year Old

Highland Park has released their latest limited edition bottling, The Dark 17 Year Old. Matured in sherry seasoned European oak casks and bottled at 52.9% ABV, this release is limited to 28,000 bottles and is the first of two whiskies created to celebrate the contrasting island seasons on Orkney.

The Dark is presented in a black glass bottle embossed with a runic dragon and sits in a black wooden display. As Highland Park explains, “the serpent dragon design takes its inspiration from the great Norse sagas and embraces both the high sun of summer solstice and the low sun of winter solstice – the polar opposites of our island seasons – while the runic writing reflects the ancient carvings of our Viking ancestors, here on Orkney.”

Highland Park describes The Dark as a “deep, autumnal russet” in color, with “dried fruits, cinnamon, toasted almonds and rich fruitcake” on the palate.

Highland Park The Dark 17 Year Old is available worldwide at a suggested price of $260/£190. The second bottle in this series, The Light, will be released this Spring.
