The Dalmore Unveils Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Wine Cask Edition

The Dalmore has unveiled the fourth and final installment of it’s Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Wine Cask Edition.
The Cask Curation Series highlights celebrated makers and their partnerships with The Dalmore. The Madeira Wine Cask Edition is a collection of three whiskies celebrating The Dalmore’s partnership with Portugal’s Blandy’s Madeira. The whiskies – aged 30, 34, and 45 years – have been finished in different Madeira Pipes, specifically chosen to accentuate different facets of The Dalmore’s spirit.
The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Cask Edition – Aged 30 Years:
Matured for 29 years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before an eight-month finishing period in a 2010 Terrantez Madeira Pipe. Bottled at 49.3% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “orange blossom and citrus zest, with hints of hazelnuts, and exotic spice.” The palate exhibits notes of “stone fruits, caramelised orange peel, toasted walnuts, and a subtle minerality.” It finishes with notes of “dried apricots, caramel, sweet oak, and allspice.”
The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Cask Edition – Aged 34 Years:
Matured for over 33 years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before an eight-month finish in a 2018 Bual Madeira Pipe. Bottled at 44.5% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “dried figs, with splashes of stone fruit, vanilla toffee, and hints of cardamom.” The palate exhibits notes of “Seville orange, peach, Manuka honey, and nutmeg.” The finish is “lingering with dried fruits, toffee, sweet oak, and patisserie spices.”
The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Cask Edition – Aged 45 Years:
The oldest expression in this trio, and the oldest bottling across the Cask Curation Series. Matured for 44 years in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before a three-month finish in a 2012 Malvasia Madeira Pipe. Bottled at 40.7% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “dates and stewed fruit, layered with toffee, and stemmed ginger.” The palate exhibits notes of “golden syrup, dried fruits, chocolate orange, and walnut.” The finish is “lingering with spiced orange, toffee, sweet malt, and crystalised ginger.”
All three whiskies in The Madeira Wine Cask Edition are bottled of natural color and non-chill filtered, and presented in a bespoke warm ochre leather carry case which doubles as a display case.
The Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Madeira Wine Cask Edition is limited to just 150 sets worldwide and is available worldwide at select outlets for a suggested retail price of £37,350 / $47,000 per set.
