Redwood Empire Whiskey has announced The Hyperion, the first in a series of limited-edition annual releases exploring the bounds of American whiskey blends.

Each batch of The Hyperion will be entirely distinct and never repeated. Crafted in California by Master Distiller Jeff Duckhorn and Master Blender Lauren Patz, The Hyperion Batch 001 is a blend of four straight whiskeys – bourbon, rye, wheat, and single malt – designed to showcase the barrel inventory curated by Redwood Empire since the company’s inception in 2013.

The Hyperion Batch 001 is crafted from multiple bourbon, rye, and wheat whiskey mash bills from Redwood Empire and other distillers in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee, while the single malt component is entirely grain-to-glass whiskey distilled by Redwood Empire. The final blend of approximately 79 barrels is composed of 32% bourbon whiskey, 30% rye whiskey, 25% wheat whiskey, and 13% single malt whiskey, features more than 10 mash bills and stocks aged from 7-14 years, and is bottled at 55% ABV (110 proof).

The Hyperion Batch 001 is described as having aromas of “California walnut and roasted apricots.” The palate is “rich and layered with decadent pomegranate molasses, stone fruit, cream, and warm baking spice.” It concludes with “a long, harmonizing finish of toffee and toasted malt.”

Redwood Empire The Hyperion will be available at select retailers beginning this fall and carries a suggested retail price of $99 for a 750 mL bottle.
