Glen Scotia Unveils Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air

Glen Scotia has announced the launch of Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air, the inaugural release in a new annual series.
The distillery’s oldest release to date, Glen Scotia Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air is a 50 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled in 1973, fully matured in refill American oak hogshead casks, and bottled at a natural cask strength of 42.3% ABV in 2024.
Official tasting notes for Glen Scotia Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air follow:
The coastal influence is woven into the whisky’s flavor – creating hints of salinity that pair with white pepper and powdered ginger between complex layers of baked orchard and tropical fruits with a lingering coconut finish. This single malt brings an array of aromas, from flaked almonds, vanilla fudge and salt crystals to sweet edible seaweed and fresh glazed apple tart.
Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air is bottled in a bespoke Glencairn crystal decanter accompanied by a hardback book telling the story of the whisky. The decanter is housed in a solid ash and birch cabinet, with cabinet doors that feature an original oil painting created by UK artist Gina Parr. Gina took inspiration from Campbeltown’s coastal air stream and Glen Scotia’s distilling process to create a piece that captures the essence of ‘air’ in the distillery’s dunnage warehouse, where salty sea air intertwines with heavy spirit vapors to create a distinctive scent and atmosphere.
Glen Scotia Elements of Campbeltown Release Number One: Air carries a suggested retail price of $50,000. Only 10 bottles will be available in the U.S. by special request. Interested parties should contact GlenScotia50@ffws.com for details on how to purchase.
