The Macallan Unveils Its Latest Releases in the Harmony Collection in Collaboration With JING Tea
The Macallan has unveiled two new expressions that form the fifth edition of The Harmony Collection: Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea.
The two limited edition single malts were created in collaboration with JING Tea and pay homage to the world of tea and the artistry of nature.
Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea is a tribute to the rare and aromatic oolong tea traditionally grown in China’s Phoenix Mountain range. It was predominantly matured in Sherry seasoned American oak casks, with additional depth from Sherry seasoned European oak and a subtle inclusion of American oak casks that previously held bourbon, and bottled at 43.9% ABV. It’s described as having aromas of “summery peach and apricot, floral honey, tropical fruits, toffee, and sweet oak.” The palate exhibits flavors of “fresh peaches in syrup, warm citrus, light floral notes, and delicate leafy astringency.” The finish is “fruity, sweet and complex.”
Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea draws inspiration from JING’s Organic Cherrywood Lapsang tea – a reinvented take on Lapsang Souchong, delicately smoked over cherrywood in the UK. It was primarily matured in Sherry seasoned European oak casks and complemented by a selection of Sherry seasoned American oak casks, and bottled at 44.9% ABV. It’s described as having aromas of “rich toffee and dates with warming spice, bursts of ripe berries, and charred citrus peel, with an aromatic charred oak smoke.” The palate exhibits flavors of “creamy toffee and rich citrus with vibrant oak spices, sweet and malty flavors, and a wisp of smoke.” The finish is “creamy and sweet with aromatic oak.”
Continuing with the theme of sustainability in its packaging, The Macallan has used repurposed waste tea leaves in the creation of the presentation boxes for the fifth edition of The Harmony Collection.
The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea is available now in domestic retail, whereas The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea will be exclusively available in global travel retail beginning on October 1, 2025.
