Westland Announces Solum Edition 3

Westland Distillery has announced the latest release in its limited edition Outpost Range: Westland Solum American Single Malt Whiskey Edition 3.
Solum Edition 3 was distilled from American peated malt sourced from Washington’s Skagit Valley Malting, fermented for 96-144 hours with Belgian Saison Brewer’s Yeast, and matured in new and used American oak for 48 months before being bottled at 50% ABV.
The peat was harvested from a bog approximately two hours south of Seattle, retrieved from below the bog’s waterline rather than first draining and excavating the bog. This harvesting process was specifically designed to not disrupt the bog’s ecosystem, preventing the release of greenhouse gasses and ensuring that the bog will be able to continue producing peat into the future.
Solum Edition 3 is described as having aromas of “vanilla custard, pralines, grilled pineapple, and croissant,” with flavors of “toasted sourdough, cedar, baked pear, and candied ginger.”
Westland Solum Edition 3 will be available nationwide beginning this month and is limited to 5,700 bottles globally. It carries a suggested retail price of $149.99 for a 700 mL bottle.
