Compass Box Unveils Secrets of Smoke
Compass Box has announced its latest limited edition release, Secrets of Smoke.
Compass Box Secrets of Smoke is a Blended Malt Scotch Whisky that sets out to reveal the fruity, creamy, and floral characteristics seldom associated with peated malts. Compass Box has achieved this by further maturing peated whiskies in sherry and wine casks.

- The Peat Monster | Blended Malt | Second-fill Spanish Red Wine Cask (33.9%)
- Caol Ila Distillery | Single Malt | First-fill Palo Cortado Sherry-seasoned Butt (33.1%)
- Ardmore Distillery | Single Malt | First-fill Sherry Hogshead (22%)
- Laphroaig Distillery | Single Malt | First-fill Marsala Barrique (5.7%)
- Blended Malt Parcel | Primarily Recharred American Oak Hogsheads (2.8%)
- Bowmore Distillery | Single Malt | Refill Bourbon Barrel (2.5%)
Secrets of Smoke is bottled non chill-filtered and with no added color at 52% ABV.
Compass Box Secrets of Smoke is described as “honeyed and rich” on the nose, with aromas of “toasted marshmallow, honey and buttery pears, and caramel”. The palate exhibits “coastal smoky undertones” and is “oily and spicy with pear, peach, and melon.” It concludes with a “growing citrusy taste that slowly gives way to a long, chocolatey, and peaty finish.”
Secrets of Smoke is presented in a dark box with holographic foils representing the flavors of the blend, and the label on the bottle features an identical design.
Limited to 9,792 bottles worldwide, Compass Box Secrets of Smoke will be available beginning this month and carries a suggested retail price of $165 for a 700 mL bottle.
