Ardbeg Launches Seann Chreag 21 Year Old Travel Retail Exclusive
Ardbeg has announced the launch of Ardbeg Seann Chreag 21 Year Old (Scots Gaelic for “ancient rock” and pronounced “Shawn Craig”), a travel retail exclusive release.
Ardbeg Seann Chreag 21 Year Old combines Ardbeg matured in bourbon casks with Oloroso sherry casks and is presented NCF (Non-Chill Filtered) at 46.8% ABV.
Official tasting notes for Ardbeg Seann Chreag 21 Year Old follow:
Aroma: Rich, malty and biscuity, tangy dried fruits flow alongside hints of hickory smoked ham, barbecue spareribs, and a burst of treacle toffee. A splash of water opens the bouquet to reveal touches of orange oil, honey, burning heather and a whiff of old leather.
Taste: A luxuriously viscous mouthfeel is followed by a powerful note of tarry peat smoke, tempered by a distinct sweetness in demerara sugar and syrupy figs. Aniseed bonbons and a touch of nut toffee fuse with flavours of charcoal, graphite, leather and damp peat bog.
Finish: The long and lingering finish leads the senses towards subtly briny notes.Touches of eucalyptus, camphor, menthol and tar round outthis exceptional Ardbeg.
Ardbeg Seann Chreag 21 Year Old is available at global travel retail outlets and the Ardbeg Distillery Vistor Centre on Islay for a suggested retail price of €400.
