Bunnahabhain Releases 30 Year Old and 40 Year Old Single Malts in the U.S.
Bunnahabhain has announced the release of its 30 Year Old and 40 Year Old single malts in the United States.
Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old
The newest member of the Bunnahabhain core range, this first batch release of a 30 year old whisky is one of the distillery’s oldest single malts. Distilled in small batches and matured exclusively in sherry casks in coastal warehouses at the distillery, it’s bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 46.3% ABV (92.6 proof).
Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old is described as having aromas of “butterscotch, beeswax, and sweet sherry.” The palate exhibits notes of “strawberries and cream, gradually developing into honey nut cereals and an abundance of rich toffee.” It finishes with “a gentle aftertaste of stewed berries and ginger, with a prolonged and undulating combination of spiced oak and salted caramel.” MSRP: $999.99 for a 700 mL bottle.
Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old
This expression was matured for four decades in a warehouse by the sea in sherry casks that Bunnahabhain claims were all but forgotten until it’s blending team discovered them while reviewing the warehouse ledgers. Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old is bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 41.9% ABV (83.8 proof).
Bunnahabhain 40 Year Old is described as having aromas of “hints of tropical fruits, banana, berries, creamy toffee, vanilla, rich nuttiness, and delicate sweet oak.” The palate exhibits notes of “sweet malt, creamy caramel, vanilla, creamy berries, with hints of toasted nuts, tropical fruit, banana, and pineapple.” The finish is “long, sweet, and fruity.” MSRP: $3,785.99 for a 700 mL bottle.
