The Glasgow Distillery Announces First Age Statement Whiskies in Small Batch Series
The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of two new limited edition expressions in the Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series: Cognac Cask Finish Batch No. 02 and Tokaji Cask Finish Batch No. 02. Both expressions have been matured for six years and are the first age stated whiskies in the Small Batch Series.
Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish Batch No. 2 is a marriage of three unpeated and two peated Cognac casks that were initially matured in first fill ex-Bourbon, then finished in French Cognac casks for 3 years and 4 months. On April 9, 2024, it was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 58% ABV, yielding 2,250 70 cL bottles. Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish is described as having notes of “sweet smoke, rich honey, poached pear, dried apple, vanilla ice cream, and oak spice.” RRP £59.
Glasgow 1770 Tokaji Cask Finish Batch No. 2 is a marriage of four unpeated casks that were initially matured in first fill ex-Bourbon, then finished in Hungarian Sweet Tokaji wine casks for 3 years and 6 months. On June 3, 2024, it was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 54.8% ABV, yielding 1,300 70 cL bottles. Glasgow 1770 Tokaji Cask Finish is described as having notes of “tropical mango, pineapple, orange, dried apricot, cashew nut, manuka honey, and nutmeg spice.” RRP £59.
