The Glasgow Distillery Launches Cask Strength Range

The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of cask strength editions of two of its single malts in the first of what will be an ongoing series of batched cask strength releases.
Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 01 and Glasgow 1770 The Original Cask Strength Batch 01 offer a look into the unadulterated, raw character of two of the distillery’s most popular expressions, straight from the cask.
Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 01 is bottled at 60.8% ABV and limited to 1000 bottles. It’s described as having aromas of “rich smoky BBQ sauce, tobacco leaf, opulent smoked Iberico ham, ripe juicy blackberries, and sticky poached plums.” The palate exhibits notes of “sweet BBQ smoke with grilled pineapple and banana, slow roasted coffee beans, dried apricot, and flamed orange zest.” It concludes with a “long and rich” finish with “lasting notes of sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, juicy raisins and sultanas, with hints of toasted oak shavings.” RRP: £66.
Glasgow 1770 The Original Cask Strength Batch 01 is bottled at 61.3% ABV and limited to 750 bottles. It’s described as having aromas of “zesty Seville orange marmalade, dried apricot, toffee apple, dark fruit spice, and freshly planed oak.” The palate is “rich and full bodied with fruity notes of poached pears, tropical fruit and toasted pineapple accompanied by biscuit malt and hints of marzipan, clove and anise.” It concludes with a “long lasting” finish with “lingering notes of flamed orange peel, rich woody spice, and a gentle touch of liquorice.” RRP: £64.
Both releases are available on The Glasgow Distillery website and at specialist retailers across the UK. They will also soon be available in Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Poland, Belgium, and Switzerland.
