Ardbeg Launches Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition Travel Retail Exclusive

Ardbeg has announced the launch of the second single malt in the Smoketrails collection: Côte Rôtie Edition.
Each edition in the Ardbeg Smoketrails collection — released in batches every year — is a marriage of Ardbeg matured in American oak casks and Ardbeg matured in secondary casks sourced from around the world. The second release, Ardbeg Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition, marries whisky matured in bourbon barrels with whisky matured in Côte Rôtie red wine casks from the Rhône region of southern France.
Official tasting notes for Ardbeg Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition follow:
Grilled artichoke, peppers and olive brine make for a savory top note. A splash of water opens up malted barley sweetness and a subtle hint of camphor. Carbolic soap dives into a delicate fruitiness with smoked cranberry and blackcurrant. The sweetness continues in dark chocolate and soft fondant cream. Finally, savory saltiness soars in a combination of crispy bacon rind, tar and woodsmoke.
Ardbeg Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition is bottled NCF (Non-Chill Filtered) at 46% ABV and is available now in UK airports, followed by the rest of Europe over the coming weeks, and airports around the rest of the world in early 2024. A limited number of bottles will also be available at the Ardbeg Distillery Vistor Centre on Islay.
