The Glasgow Distillery Announces Trio of New Small Batch Series Expressions
The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of three new limited edition expressions in the Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series: Triple Distilled Cognac Cask Finish, Peated Tokaji Cask Finish, and Golden Beer Cask Finish (Batch 2).
Glasgow 1770 Triple Distilled Cognac Cask Finish was initially filled into a first fill ex-bourbon cask on February 3, 2018 and matured for 2 years 10 months. It was then transferred into three French Cognac puncheon casks on December 17, 2020 for an additional 2 years 6 months of maturation. On July 12, 2023, it was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 52% ABV, yielding 1,576 70 cL bottles. The Triple Distilled Cognac Cask Finish is described as having notes of “green apples, poached pear, vanilla ice cream, shortbread, and bright citrus spice.” RRP £64.
Glasgow 1770 Peated Tokaji Cask Finish was initially filled into two virgin American white oak casks on March 14, 2018 and matured for 2 years 8 months. It was then transferred into two Hungarian Tokaji hogshead casks on November 18, 2020 for an additional 2 years 8 months of maturation. On July 27, 2023, it was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 53.4% ABV, yielding 615 70 cL bottles. The Peated Tokaji Cask Finish is described as having notes of “candied orange peel, sweet tropical smoke, dried apricot, cashew nut, manuka honey, and dark chocolate.” RRP £59.
Glasgow 1770 Golden Beer Cask Finish (Batch 2) is exclusively available in the distillery’s new Collaboration Pack, paired with a bottle of Innis & Gunn’s PX Finish Golden Beer. The whisky was initially filled into a first fill ex-bourbon cask on April 17, 2019 and matured for 3 years 1 months. It was then transferred into an ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry cask that previously contained Innis & Gunn’s Golden Beer for an additional 12 months of maturation. On July 12, 2023, it was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 58% ABV, yielding 340 70 cL bottles. The Golden Beer Cask Finish is described as having notes of “sultana, hops, orange peel, nutmeg, and cinnamon spice” RRP £59.
